11. Do I have to make a toast at the wedding?

Generally, it is the maid-of-honor's responsibility to make a toast at the wedding reception (the best man makes a toast, too). However, sometimes groomsmen and bridesmaids make short toasts at the rehearsal dinner (though this is optional, and not every bridesmaid has to do it. . .how long do you want that dinner to go on, after all?) So, the answer really is no, not unless you want to. But, hey, it would be awfully nice if you did. If you decide to toast the happy couple, keep it short and sweet- don't try too many daring jokes unless you are confident about them! Make it interesting by throw in a cute personal story or two about the bride-to-be. And don't be nervous- no one's looking at YOU anyway! Ha ha.
